Below is the list of documents required for applicants to the Master’s, Doctoral, and Research programs.

Required Documents

Documents to be submitted by the Evaluation Stage

A) First Round (embassy/university)

  • Documents to Complete and Required Certificates:
    • Submission Requirements: Determined by each embassy/university, including acceptance of photocopies, electronic files, documents without certified translation for the initial selection round.
    • Number of Documents to Submit: Determined by each embassy/university.
  • Documents to Complete:
    • Application
    • Personal Statement
    • Study Plan
    • Research Proposal
    • Letter of Recommendation
    • Letter of Invitation (Research Program)
    • Applicant Agreement
    • Personal Medical Assessment
    • Consent to Collect and Use Personal Information
  • Required Certificates:
    • Graduation Certificate
    • Academic Transcript
    • Proof of Citizenship
    • Proof of Overseas Koreans, etc.
  • Note: All application documents sent to NIIED for the second round of selection must adhere to the submission requirements specified for the second round.

B) Second Round (NIIED)

  • Documents to Complete:
    • Submission Requirements: All forms must be completed in English or Korean with the applicant’s original handwritten signature. No apostille or consular confirmation required.
    • Number of Documents to Submit:
      • Embassy Track: ONE set of original documents + THREE sets of photocopies.
      • University Track: ONE set of original documents.
  • Required Certificates:
    • Submission Requirements:
      • Documents written in English or Korean must be apostilled or consular confirmed.
      • Documents written in other languages:
        • Must be submitted with a certified translation in English or Korean.
        • Must be apostilled or consular confirmed (either the original document or certified translation).
    • Number of Documents to Submit:
      • Embassy Track: ONE set of apostilled/consular confirmed documents + THREE sets of photocopies.
      • University Track: ONE set of apostilled/consular confirmed documents.

Things to note when submitting application documents for GKS 2024 Graduate:

Application documents for the FIRST round of selection 

  • All documents must be submitted in English or Korean 
  • Each embassy/university may modify documentation requirements at their own discretion* 
  • One letter of Recommendation* must be prepared and submitted by applicant* Signed and sealed by your supervisor, dean or professional in the field of your desired study 
  • Applicants should check with the embassy/university for detailed information on application submission 

Application documents for the SECOND round of selection 

  • Successful candidates of the first round must meet the submission requirements for the second round 
  • If any of the required documents are not submitted or if any of the application forms are submitted without applicant?s signature, his or her application documents may be excluded from evaluation 
  • All application materials submitted to NIIED will NOT BE RETURNED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES 
  • If a university requires additional documents (e.g., portfolio), applicants must submit those materials directly to the university

I’m from Pakistan but I’m doing Masters in Russia under Opendoors scholarship. Should I sent documents to embassy in Pakistan or can I submit documents here in Moscow thorough embassy track

Is there 1 original +3 photocopy needed for 1st round.? or I just send one set of photocopy formats of every document for 1st round?

I am from india, i dont have a birth certificate or voter id, what else can be used as a birth or citizenship proof for me and my paremts

The program is rich and I want to thank the Korean government for this opportunity given to the world. My question is if you want to apply for PhD it is a must for you to publish papers before you are given the opportunity or when you are a student during that process you can publish.
