All applicants must hold citizenship of NIIED designated countries that are invited to take part in the GKS program
2. Education
Bachelor’s degree program is for applicants who graduated (or are expected to graduate) from a high school or from an associate degree program
Associate degree program is for applicants who graduated (or are expected to graduate) from a high school
Note: ? Applicants who are expected to graduate must first submit a certificate of expected graduation at the time of application. If such applicants pass the final round of selection, they must submit a graduation certificate (or a degree certificate) by February 28, 2023
3- Score (GPA)
The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of the entire curriculum from the previous (degree) program must meet one of the two conditions below; – Score percentile should be 80% or above on a 100-point scale or be ranked within the top 20% within one’s class – CGPA must be equal to or above 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5 or 3.23/5.0
4- Age
Must be under 25 years of age (born after March 1, 1998)
5- Health
All applicants must be in good health, both mentally and physically, to study in Korea for the full duration of the program

For the year 2022, 1378 international students from 154 countries, for the degree (Masterโs & Doctoral) and non-degree research programs are invited to study in Korea for FREE.
1 – Program Objective
The Global Korea Scholarship is intended to give international students with opportunity to pursue academic degrees at higher educational institutions in Korea, thereby enhancing international education exchange and deepening mutual goodwill between Korea and participating nations.
1b – Scholarship Benefits
– Upon arrival, NIIED will provide 20,000 KRW per month in private insurance premium until scholars are enrolled in health insurance. After enrollment, NIIED will provide health insurance premiums of a standard amount (55,630 KRW).
– Korean proficiency grants (who has TOPIK level 5 or 6), research support fee, tuition, thesis printing fee, degree completion grants are given to GKS scholars in the degree program only.

Currently, the GKS Scholarship is open for Masters Degree, Doctoral or Phd Degree and Research Program.

– Applicants who submit a high score of English proficiency test (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS).

GKS Scholarship 2022 is about to be announced for the Graduate Degree (Masters, Phd). This year, NIIED (National Institute for International Education) has announced a prior notice for all the aspiring students who are willing to apply for this scholarship.
The official statement by NIIED goes by:
“Dear Prospective Applicants of the 2022 GKS Graduate Program, NIIED would like to make a prior notice that starting from 2022 GKS-G program, we will only accept apostilled or consular confirmed documents for the following:
A) Proof of citizenship (for both applicantโs and their parentsโ) : official certificate issued by the government such as birth certificate and/or family register
B) Certificate of graduation (Bachelor, Master, Doctoral degree) : official graduation certificate (or diploma) issued by a university or a government : official certificate of expected graduation (*for applicants who are expected to graduate)
C) Academic transcript (Bachelor, Master, Doctoral degree) : official transcript issued by university
The official notice by the NIIED further states:
D) Proof of Age : additional document issued by a government if none of the submitted documents indicate the applicantโs date of birth
E) Proof of Overseas Korean, proof of Korean citizenship renunciation document, proof of Korean War veteranโs descendant, proof of Korean adoptee document : only applicable for relevant applicants
F) Certificate of employment : only applicable for Korean language teaching professionals

All certificates listed above must be authenticated by a Korean Consulate or apostilled before submission. Certificates with simple notarization will NOT be accepted.
Confirmation from a Foreign Ministry or a Ministry of Justice ONLY will not be accepted.
Certificates Language (GKS 2022)
Certificates that are written either in Korean or English ? Submit with an authentication by a Korean Consulate or with an apostille.
Certificates that are written in languages other than Korean or English ? A certified translation must be accompanied with an original document. An original (or a certified true copy of the original) document must be authenticated by a Korean Consulate or be apostilled.
Guidelines for Embassy Track Applicant
Embassy track applicants should submit ONE consular-authenticated (or apostilled) document and THREE photocopies of the consular-authenticated (or apostilled) document.
Optional Documents (GKS 2022)
Other optional documents such as certificate of Korean (TOPIK) or English proficiency test, copy of awards, etc. do not need to be authenticated, unless the document is written in a language other than Korean or English. All application documents that are written in languages other than Korean or English must be accompanied with a certified translation.
Previous GKS Scholars
Previous or current GKS Scholars who are applying for a higher degree program should submit original graduation certificate and academic transcript issue by their Korean universities without additional authentication.
This notice is to provide prospective applicants with appropriate time to prepare the required documents since we are aware that certain documents require lead time to be authenticated in some countries.

The Korean government has invited 125 international students from 67 different nations to study in Korea for a bachelor’s degree. Any candidate must successfully complete the first screening process provided by the Korean Embassy in his or her place of origin in order to be selected as a GKS recipient.
[University Track]
The Korean government is inviting 60 international students from 72 countries to study in Korea for a bachelor’s degree (Natural Science and Engineering department), as well as 35 international students from 17 countries to study for an associate degree. To be chosen as a GKS grantee, all applicants must successfully complete the allocated regional university’s first selection process.

The quota reserve for Embassy Track for 2022 is 125. GKS Scholarship 2022 offers 1 seat for Pakistanis and 3 seats for India under this track.
Quota for University Track
The quota for university track 2022 is 60 seats and out of which a lot of countries will share 9 seats only.
Quota for Associate Degree
The quota for associate degree 2022 is 35 but unfortunately Pakistan is not eligible for this degree.

Eligibility of GKS Scholarship 2022 Undergraduate Program
All the applicants need to meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
a) Nationality:
All applicants and their parents should not have a KOREAN nationality.
b) Level of Education:
Applicants who graduated (or are expected to graduate) from a high school can apply for a Bachelor’s degree program or an Associate degree program.
Applicants who are expected to graduate by February 28th, 2022 must first submit a certificate of expected graduation
c) Grades:
All applicants must have a score percentile of atleast 80%
d) Age:
Must be under 25 years of age (born after March 1, 1997)
e) Health:
All applicants must be in good health, both mentally and physically, to study in Korea for the full duration of the program.

Please note that you can only apply through one track. You will be disqualified if you apply for this scholarship through both of these tracks. Both the tracks have a few differences (pros and cons) and it is totally up to you which track you want to choose.
Embassy Track:
Pros: You can select 3 universities of your choice. Cons: The selection process has 3 rounds. (Embassy > NIIED > University)
University Track:
Pros: The selection process has 2 rounds. (University > NIIED) Cons: You can select just 1 university.
How to increase selection chances:
According to the official guidelines published on the StudyinKorea website, the preference will be given to the following students. (Please note that it does not mean you shouldn’t apply if you don’t meet these criteria)
In cases where the overall scores are the same in the 1st round of selection (both embassy and university track), the following applicants will be chosen over the other candidates: ? The Overseas Koreans ? Those applicants who are from low-income families or underprivileged background ? The (Embassy track) Applicants who applied for a Natural Science and Engineering department in a Regional University ? (University track applicants who applied for an Associate degree) Winner of a national level competition on technical skills
In cases where the overall scores are the same in the 2nd round of selection (university track), the following applicants will be chosen over the other candidates: ? Who hold a TOPIK level 3 or above ? Overseas Koreans ? All the applicants from low-income families or underprivileged background ?
